Codes Council Seeks Building Trades Experts
WASHINGTON DC – Experts in the fields of building, fire, plumbing, mechanical, sustainability energy, and high-performance building in western Montgomery, eastern Berks, and northern Chester counties are being sought by the Washington-based International Code Council to serve as volunteers in its 2024-2026 code development process, it said Thursday (Oct. 7, 2022).
Needed are participants for council action committees reviewing technical code, building code, fire code; plumbing, mechanical and fuel gas code; sustainability, energy & high-performance building code; compliance code; and for its Codes and Standards Council.
Its call for committees “is an opportunity for experts in the built environment to have a voice in the development of the most widely used and adopted set of building codes in the world,” the council said. The 2023-2026 cycle “will bring significant changes to the code process,” it added. Anyone can apply to be on a committee, and it “encouraged” all interested parties to participate.
The application deadline is Oct. 24 (Monday). Learn more about and apply for committees’ participation here. Learn more about the code development process and how it works, here.
