Cook Extinguished Apartment’s Stove-Top Fire

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A resourceful cook in the Rolling Hills apartment complex at 2120 Buchert Rd. acted quickly Thursday (Oct. 7, 2022) when faced with a small stove-top fire at 5:37 p.m., firefighters reported. She called 9-1-1 to alert emergency dispatchers of the problem. Then, as first responders were rolling out of the Sanatoga Fire Company station, she grabbed a nearby extinguisher.

The blaze was out by the time a fire engine pulled up near the apartment’s front door, one volunteer reported.

Firefighters carefully checked for any further flames or problems and, happily, found none. Township Fire Marshal Lew Babel said they congratulated the chef for fast thinking, and for having an extinguisher on hand.

Then responders began to pack up and leave. But to mark the occasion, an adult with a cell phone camera lined several children up in front of the fire truck to take a photo. The kids all smiled. The fire engine driver did too, gave a short wave, and carefully left the parking lot.
