Tower Names Boulanger as Provider Enterprise CEO
WEST READING PA – Dr. Bernard Boulanger has been named by Tower Health as its executive vice president and CEO of Provider Enterprise, effective Oct. 31 (2022; Monday), the health system said. He will “provide executive leadership for Tower Health Medical Group, Tower Health Providers, Tower Health at Home, and undergraduate Academic Affairs,” the company added.
Family practice offices and other units of the medical group, providers, and home services are in part spread across portions of Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties.
Boulanger joins Tower Health from MetroHealth in Ohio, where he served in a wide range of clinical and executive leadership roles since 2016. Most recently he worked as executive vice president of provider enterprise and academic affairs. In that role he provided executive leadership for a network of more than 1,000 employed providers and 19 clinical department chairs.
He also oversaw undergraduate medical education with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, as well as leading the MetroHealth Research Institute. Before that role, he was chief clinical officer for MetroHealth.
Boulanger is credited during his tenure at MetroHealth with advancing quality, access, and growth in adult and pediatric clinical service lines; improving financial performance of MetroHealth’s provider enterprise; and creating a leadership culture that improved employee engagement, trust, and diversity and inclusion.
Before joining MetroHealth, Boulanger was a trauma surgeon at University of Kentucky Healthcare, and eventually rose to the become the system’s chief medical officer.
He is a graduate of the University of Toronto College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in general surgery. He completed a fellowship in trauma surgery/critical care at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland. He holds an MBA from the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky.
