Drug Offenses Top Township September Violations List
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Arrests for drug-related offenses, followed by those for driving under the influence of a substance, led a list of criminal violations handled by the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department during September 2022, according to a report recently provided by Police Chief Richard Bell to the township Board of Commissioners.
Among a total of 34 criminal violations department officers dealt with last month, eight were for drug offenses, followed by five for DUI, the report stated.
Other violations addressed by the department during September included:
- Receiving stolen property, four;
- Harassment, retail theft, and theft, three each;
- Access device violations, and simple assault, two each; and
- Criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, public drunkeness, and reckless or careless driving, one each
Officers arrested 14 adults during the month, and one juvenile was handled. Two individuals were subject to involuntary commitment, the report added.
The chief’s summary of September department activity was submitted during the commissioners’ Oct. 3 (2022; Monday) board meeting.
Officer’s training continues
Newly hired patrol Ofc. Tyler Smith, who took his oath of office with the department on Sept. 22, is successfully continuing his training. He’s “doing well so far,” Bell told board members during their meeting, and has completed in-house training and certification on department weapons, Taser, and baton.
