Bechtelsville CPA Continues as Township Auditor

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – For a three-year period that runs through 2024, the Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners on Thursday (Oct. 20, 2022) retained certified public accountant Barbara A. Akins of Bechtelsville to again provide annual auditing services to the township. Manager Ed Wagner acknowledged Akins has conducted township-related audits for several years.

Under the latest contract, similar to earlier ones, Akins’ accounting firm will audit five sets of financial records each year. They include those of the township, the Lower Pottsgrove Authority, Tax Collector Jennifer Marsteller, and the Ringing Hill and Sanatoga fire companies, Wagner noted.

The combined costs to audit township and authority books are scheduled to increase about 5 percent annually, quoted at $22,810 in 2022, $23,945 in 2023, and $25,145 in 2024. Akins’ additional charges to audit the tax collector and fire companies’ accounts remains unchanged for the period, at a total of $5,300 annually.
