Twenty-Three Area Halloween Events Remain Available

There’s plenty of fun, Halloween-related things to do in western Montgomery, eastern Berks, and northern Chester counties this month. Here’s the last revised list from The Post, updated Friday (Oct. 27, 2022) with four NEW! items. Click any bold-faced headline below a date to be linked to source information.

Oct. 28 (Friday)

  • Family Night Hike at Althouse Arboretum
    6-8 p.m., 1794 Gilbertsville Rd., Upper Pottsgrove PA. $8 per child; adults and members free. “A fun and educational alternative to scary Halloween activities, designed for kids. Enjoy a short night-time walk through trails lit with glow sticks.  Go on an adventure through Candyland to find some sweet treats and fun. Bring a flashlight. Outdoor activities also include a campfire, marshmallow roast, carnival games and prizes, special crafts, face-painting, and food. Groups welcome. All activities take place outdoors at the Althouse Arboretum, 1794 Gilbertsville Road Pottstown. All parking will be at the Hillside Aquatic Club parking lot on Moyer Road. No parking will available at the arboretum. A free shuttle will bring guests to the arboretum.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Cedarville United Methodist Church NEW!
    6-7:30 p.m., 1092 Laurelwood Rd., Pottstown PA. Free; “everyone is invited,” it said. “If you’d like to host a car, or volunteer, register online here.
  • Halloween at the Boyertown YMCA
    6-8 p.m., 301 W. Spring St., Boyertown PA. Free. “Bring the whole family to our Trunk-or-Treat event. We encourage families to wear costumes and bring Halloween baskets, as we will have a celebration with candy, games, and activities. This event is open to the community; registration is not required. If you’re interested in decorating your car for Trunk-or-Treat, send an e-mail to bruce.bingaman@philaymca.org to register,” it said.
  • Fright Night at the Pottstown Regional Public Library
    6:30 p.m., 500 E. High St., Pottstown PA. A fund-raising, and hair-raising!, event that features a ghost tour of the library after dark with real staff experiences, seasonal refreshments, and interaction with a paranormal investigator from Pennsylvania. Tickets cost $25, and can be purchased online, here.
  • Halloween Ghost Tours of Brinton Lodge
    8:30-10 p.m., 1808 W. Schuylkill Rd., Douglassville PA. 90-minute tour, $22. Explore Brinton Lodge, a haunted 300-year-old mansion, by candlelight and discover a hidden world of ghosts, mysteries, and supernatural encounters. Through darkened halls and secret rooms, its ghost tour “leads you into an otherworldly realm that overlaps with our own,” it said.

Oct. 29 (Saturday)

  • Skippack Village Dog Halloween Parade
    10 a.m. start time, in the parking lot of Justin’s Carriage House Restaurant, 3911 Skippack Pike. Sponsored by Floral and Hardy Florists. Parade begins in the parking lot and continues into and around Floral & Hardy’s yard, ending in front of the store at the judging table. Winners will be announced after the last pet has passed the judge’s table. Advance registration, $1, required, and will be donated to Home at Last Dog Rescue. A family-friendly event; pets must be kept on leashes and under control by their owners.
  • Halloween Party at Worthwhile Thrift NEW!
    10 a.m. to 7 p.m., in the Marketplace at Collegeville, 305 2nd Ave. Ste. 201, Collegeville PA. Free. Popcorn, candy, a costume contest, music, and a trick-or-treat purchase discount, its in-store signage said.
  • Warwick Fall Festival NEW!
    11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Warwick County Park, 191 County Park Rd., Pottstown PA. Sponsored by Chester County Parks and Preservation. Free admission, free parking. “What better way to kick off Fall?,” it asked. “There will be many fun activities including live music, inflatables, crafts, bubbletopia, hot air balloon rides, pumpkin painting, stuff a mini scarecrow, wagon rides, pony rides and animals, cornhole, rock wall, pumpkin patch, apple slingshots, face painting, and food.”
  • Trunk-or-Treat by Limerick Township
    Noon to 3 p.m., Limerick Community Park, 180 Swamp Pike, Royersford PA. Free. “Join Limerick Township Parks and Recreation for its annual Trunk-or-Treat event,” it said. “Come dressed in your favorite costume and be prepared to come home with some candy.”
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Co.
    Noon to 3 p.m., 782 Old Skippack Rd., Salfordville PA. Free, but donations accepted and appreciated. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks available for a donation. All cars participating in trunk-or-treat should arrive by 11:30 a.m. It’s third annual event, it said.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Tri-County Area Federal Credit Union
    2-4 p.m., in the parking lot of the credit union’s Pottstown office, 1550 Medical Dr. Free. “Kids are encouraged to wear their best costume as they walk their way through an awesome line-up of themed trunks, collecting candy and treats at each stop,” its notice said.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Emmanuel Lutheran Church NEW!
    2-4 p.m., at the church, 150 N. Hanover St., Pottstown PA. “The community is invited,” it said. “Bring the kiddos out for some seasonal fun and treats.” It’s being held “earlier in the day so that more people can participate.” Want to participate by adding your car? Call the church office at 610-323-4312. Advance donations of candy also are welcomed; leave them in the M&M Man in the church hallway.
  • Trunk or Treat at Augustus Lutheran Church
    4-6 p.m., 717 W. Main St., Trappe PA. Free and “open to all kids through sixth grade.” In case of inclement weather, the event will move indoors. Want to participate with a decorated trunk? There’s still time to join the crowd; send an e-mail to gtwess@comcast.net.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Scargill McClurken Insurance Agency
    5-7 p.m., at its offices, 1111 Ridge Rd., South Pottstown PA. Free, but donations accepted to benefit Good Samaritan Services in Phoenixville. “Dress your best and join us,” it said on AllEvents.In. “Bring the family, grab a pumpkin, and try some of Scott’s Famous Chili, warm apple cider, and more … We will have over 10 vehicles participating in the trunk-or-treat.”

    2-4 p.m., at the farm, 3031 Coventryville Rd., Pottstown PA. “We are hosting a family-friendly Halloween event here at the farm,” it said. “Come dressed in your costumes and enjoy trick or treating with the horses, as well as a free pony ride for the kids! Donations towards building a new barn are greatly appreciated.”
  • Trunk-or-Treat in Lower Frederick
    2-5 p.m., in Lower Frederick Township’s Foy Park, 1 Main St., Spring Mount. Free. Sponsored by the Lower Frederick Police Department. Kids can “have fun and enjoy safe treats from decorated trunks provided by local businesses and friends,” it said. The Van Pelt Hot Dog Company food truck will be onsite for purchases, as will Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Royersford Baptist Church
    4-6 p.m., at the church, 452 S. Lewis Rd., Royersford PA. Free. “Come trunk-or-treat at RBC. All are welcome for this spooky and silly event. We’ll even have one of our big screen TVs available if the Eagles game runs late,” it said.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens
    4-7 p.m., 352 S. Gulph Rd., King of Prussia PA. Free. “Treats, arts and crafts, games. story-telling. Vote on the most creative trunks. “Bring the kids in their costumes. We invite the community to join with us as we create a welcoming environment for the living, while fondly remembering all those who are entrusted to our care,” it said.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Parkerford Baptist Church
    5-7 p.m., at the church, 92 Baptist Church Rd., Spring City PA. Free. “Grab your favorite costume and the kids, and come have a great night of food, safe fun, and friendly fellowship. We will have a bounce house for the kids, lots of cool cars for the adults, and plenty of food and candy for all. Prizes given for the best costume and decorated car,” it said.

Oct. 31 (Halloween; Monday)

  • Trick or Treating in West Vincent Township
    Although Monday is officially Halloween, West Vincent does not set or regulate trick-or-treating activity within the township. Its latest newsletter cautions, however, that township neighborhood home owner associations (HOAs) may have specific limits on or guidance for Halloween-related events. It urged HOA members to check with their representatives about the rules, if any.
