Go Outdoors Locally, Brewery Urges, to Enjoy A Beer

ROCHESTER NY – You’ve heard of pairing beer with food. In a new take on that concept, the Rochester NY-based Genesee Brewing Company wants to encourage visitors in Southeastern Pennsylvania to pair its beers with travel and activities. It’s citing four popular local destinations – in Valley Forge, Schwenksville, Elverson, and Macungie – as examples of what it thinks are good matches.

The brewery on Tuesday (Nov. 15, 2022) launched what it called its GeneSeePA campaign, intended to “encourage Pennsylvanians to explore the outdoors this winter while supporting local businesses.” Its advertising mavens created “an interactive map that highlights the best outdoor activities across the state, and nearby local bars and restaurants where they can grab a beer afterward!”

The map, available here, lists 25 examples in the greater Philadelphia area. Among them are Valley Forge National Historical Park in Valley Forge, Spring Mountain Adventures in Schwenksville, French Creek State Park in Elverson, and Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie. Other regions singled out for special treatment are Pittsburgh, Erie and Central PA.

Pennsylvania “is home to 12,000 miles of hiking trails, 22 ski resorts, and countless other outdoor destinations,” the campaign acknowledges. Understandably, it also hastens to add that “Genesee Beer is available at hundreds of restaurants, bars and retailers across the state.” It promises that vendors and sellers participating in the campaign “will have Genesee favorites and seasonal selections available.”
