Weis Markets, Brewer Collaborate on Third Round

SUNBURY PA – In its latest collaboration with the Mifflinburg PA-based Rusty Rail Brewing Company, Weis Markets are offering an English brown ale brewed with honey – called MisBeehavin’ – and described by Rusty Rail Brewing Director Guy McCarty as “a fun twist on a traditional English northern brown ale.”

Sixteen-ounce four packs of MisBeehavin’ are currently available in Weis Markets beer-wine cafés and sections throughout Pennsylvania and New York. Weis operates three stores locally, in Gilbertsville, Pennsburg, and Oley.

McCarty said his firm “used a mix of special roasted malts to create a complex, roasty brown ale, adding honey to give it a small touch of residual sweetness. We kept the hop addition simple, complementing the more complex malt bill by using a traditional English Fuggle hop. It’s a smooth ale,” he added.

It represents the third joint effort between Weis, Rusty Rail, and local suppliers, the markets’ Vice President of Marketing and Advertising Maria Rizzo said. Earlier this summer, they released a Tropsicle Mango Popsicle sour ale. In March, Rusty Rail partnered with Asher’s Chocolate Company to create Plush Bunny, a chocolate peanut butter stout.

“Customers loved” the stout and sour ale, Rizzo reported, “and we expect they’ll love (MisBeehavin’), which is perfect for fall weather.”
