GrubHub, Rite Aid Partner for Local Store Deliveries

PHILADELPHIA PA – Rite Aid Corp., the retailer that operates pharmacies in Pottstown, North Coventry, Royersford, Phoenixville, Douglassville, Harleysville, and Pennsburg, has partnered with the national GrubHub network to ensure its customers with illnesses don’t need to leave home to get better.

A recent Grubhub survey found 47 percent of its respondents were likely to avoid traveling to the drugstore when they feel sick, and 39 percent said they planned to buy cold or flu medicines in coming weeks. Armed with that and other research, Rite Aid this month (November 2022) said it would rely on GrubHub drivers to deliver those, and thousands of other items, directly to its customers’ doorsteps.

Delivery services are nothing new for many pharmacies; they’ve offered them for years. But Rite Aid is the first national drugstore chain partner for Grubhub, it said, which is best known for moving meals from restaurants to recipients.

Rite Aid will be part of Grubhub+. It’s a membership program in which customers get access to unlimited no-charge deliveries on orders of $12 or more, as well as exclusive offers from restaurants aligned with Grubhub.

“Delivery becomes an even more important way for people to get what they need to stay nourished and cared for when they can’t leave the house,” Grubhub Senior Vice President of Growth Ariella Kurshan observed. Rite Aid patrons “can order all of their health and wellness needs” from one spot, and have them brought to them, the company noted.
