LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – The male driver and sole occupant of a blue Dodge Dakota Sport pick-up truck escaped without apparent major injury following a single-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2022) at around 9:20 a.m. on Pruss Hill Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township. The scene was a short distance west of the Pruss Hill intersection with Snell Road.

Four township police units responded to calls from Montgomery County emergency dispatchers, and upon their arrival found the truck lying upside-down on its roof and bed in the eastbound lane of Pruss Hill Road. They also found the driver, calmly sitting on a nearby roadside embankment after having successfully crawled from the truck.

He was examined at the scene by a Goodwill Ambulance emergency medical services team.

Police said the truck was traveling eastbound on Pruss Hill Road, having passed its intersection with Schaffer Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. It veered off to the south side of the highway, was caught in a roadside ditch, then rode up the embankment and rolled over, they initially reported.

It was raining at the time, and the rain intensified as a clean-up began. Police did not report if weather was a contributing factor. Details of the police officers’ investigation or about the driver were not available at the time, pending completion of and approval for their reports.

In addition to the police and ambulance, fire department and company personnel were summoned from Sanatoga, Ringing Hill, and Pottstown by dispatchers. Hawk’s Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.

Police and fire police units blocked both lanes of Pruss Hill Road between Schaffer and Snell, and detoured travelers over other nearby roads as the investigation and clean-up progressed. Traffic along both was light compared to the stream of vehicles that materializes about an hour or more earlier on weekday mornings, as commuters head east along Pruss Hill toward the Sanatoga interchange of U.S. Route 422.
