Polka Dot Powerhouse Local Blood Drive Set Dec. 30
POTTSTOWN PA – A blood drive for the American Red Cross, sponsored by the Pottstown chapter of Polka Dot Powerhouse, will be held Dec. 30 (2022; Friday) from noon to 5 p.m. at the Tri-County Active Adult Center, 288 Moser Rd. Chapter Managing Director Donna Manley and its more than 50 members said they encourage community residents to join them in donating blood.
Polka Dot Powerhouse describes itself a “women’s connection company” that assists members from around the world in building life-long friendships and business relationships. Among its annual activities is its chapters’ involvement in a “Dream Drive” to raise money or support for a cause.
The Red Cross is this year’s cause favored by the Pottstown chapter. Members said their goal was to seek donations of more than 56 pints of blood during the drive. Blood and blood components are in critically short supply, the chapter noted. Statistics show that every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood as a result of surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic and traumatic injuries, and COVID.
The Red Cross, it added, provides about 40 percent of the nation’s supply of donated blood and blood components.
Earlier years’ Dream Drives by the Pottstown chapter have benefited the Keystone Ambucs, the Mosaic Land Trust, and local families. For more information on the chapter see its Facebook page, here, or send an e-mail to Manley at email@example.com.
