100 Runners Joining Jan. 1 ‘Pottstown Polar Run’
POTTSTOWN PA – About 100 runners have signed up to participate in the inaugural Pottstown Polar Run, its organizers said. The event is scheduled to be held New Year’s Day (Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023) at Riverfront Park, 102 College Dr., as an out-and-back 5K course along the Schuylkill River Trail.
More could be anticipated, because race day registrations also are being accepted. Registration at $35 per entry is available online, here, or at the check-in open from 10:30-11:45 a.m. All race participants are asked to “arrive well before 11:30 a.m. to allow extra time for parking and check-in, especially if you did not pick up (a race) packet in advance.”
For those already registered, bib pick up is set for Saturday (Dec. 31, 2022) at the Riverfront Park pavilion from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Awards will be presented for overall male and female winners, and first- and second-finishers in male and female groups organized by ages 13-and-younger, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-and-older. Results will be posted at the Chester County Racing Services website, here, as well as at the Manatawny Athletic Club website, here, and Facebook page, here.
The first 250 registered runners will receive a commemorative finishers’ medal; and high-quality, long-sleeve cotton blend shirts, and other “race swag” will be offered to all participants while supplies last. Runners and walkers are welcome, but no pets are permitted.
