Panda Express Building Restaurant at Upland Square
WEST POTTSGROVE PA – Panda Express, a nationally franchised restaurant that describes itself as offering “Chinese flavors with American tastes,” is building a new store at the Upland Square shopping center, Upland Square Drive.

Its shell went up quickly during the past week, and workers were busy Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2022) completing sheathing and roofing tasks (at top and above). Earlier construction involved preparing a portion of the parking lot, located north of the Ashley Furniture showroom, with water and sewer connections and its foundation.
Plans for the restaurant were reviewed during late 2021 by the West Pottsgrove Planning Commission, and later approved by the township Board of Commissioners. A pre-construction meeting had been held during January 2022, and planners were told that construction was scheduled to begin in mid- to late February.
The restaurant chain, with now more than 2,700 locations, was founded in 1983 and is part of California-based Panda Restaurant Group Inc. It also operates an expanded Chinese Mandarin and Sichuan dining format called Panda Inn in California, and a “Japanese teppanyaki grill” and sushi format called Hibachi-San in several U.S. retail centers.
An opening date for the West Pottsgrove site has not yet been announced.
