Pennsburg Woman Uninjured in Hit-Run Crash
UPPER HANOVER TOWNSHIP PA – A two-vehicle hit-and-run crash that occurred Thursday (Jan. 19, 2023) at 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of Layfield Road and Montgomery Avenue in Upper Hanover damaged the vehicle that remained at the scene, but the car was drive-able. Its driver was not injured, state police reported.
Troopers from the Skippack Barracks said a 37-year-old Pennsburg woman was properly stopped at a red light at the intersection, in a 2014-model Honda Civic facing north on Layfield Road.
An opposing car, which was described only as an unknown sedan and whose driver was not identified, “proceeded from Montgomery Avenue and attempted to turn left onto Layfield Road” to travel south, they reported. Its driver lost control, “causing the vehicle to spin out,” the report stated. The sedan’s front bumper struck the driver’s side door of the Honda.
The Honda driver was wearing lap and shoulder safety belts at the time of the incident, according to the report.
After the crash, the unknown sedan fled the scene southbound, troopers added.
