Weather Delays Some West Pottsgrove Trash Pick-Ups

STOWE PA – West Pottsgrove township officials predicted Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2023) that the next day’s inclement weather would create headaches for crews scheduled to pick up local property owners’ trash and materials to be recycled.

They were right.

Township leaders also hoped that getting an hours-earlier start – at 5 a.m.- on the scheduled Wednesday (Jan. 25) pick-ups would ensure collections were finished before rapidly falling snow and rain hit as forecast.

About that, unfortunately, it seems they misjudged.

In a Ready Montco alert distributed Wednesday afternoon at 2:29 p.m., the township acknowledged that despite the early morning jump-start, trash workers couldn’t get everything done. “Trash and recycling has been suspended due to inclement weather,” its alert stated. “Areas north of Manatawny Street were not completed,” it added.

Property owners whose garbage was not retrieved by the time collections were halted shouldn’t worry. Some cans, pails, and bins may be out at the curb for an extra night, but probably only that long. Employees of hauling company J.P. Mascaro and Sons “will return to complete service tomorrow (Thursday) morning,” the township pledged.
