Township Police Visited Schools 8 Times in February

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Reports of an alleged drug possession, as well as a disturbance involving a fight or dispute, and a request to provide assistance to a driver in need all prompted Lower Pottsgrove Police Department officers to respond during February 2023 to Pottsgrove High School on Kauffman Road, according to a monthly report from Police Chief Rick Bell.

Police also visited the high school twice to conduct routine foot patrols of the premises, and once to provide requested information.

Additionally, the chief stated, officers made two trips during February to Ringing Rocks Elementary School, also on Kauffman Road. One involved the investigation of a suspicious automobile, person, or circumstance; the second regarded a two-vehicle accident in which no one was injured.

Bell’s summary, delivered March 6 (2023; Monday) to the township Board of Commissioners, noted that six different officers made a combined total of eight visits to the two school buildings. No visits were required at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School. All three buildings are within the township borders.

The officers’ visits were not explained in detail, and were not accompanied by any names of those involved.

Descriptions of the incidents correspond to those identified by codes in the Pennsylvania Uniform Crime Reporting System. The system is the method by which the state tracks all statistics used “in law enforcement administration, operation, and management.” Each code bears a distinct and different definition in UCR compilations.
