LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A Thursday (May 18, 2023) mid-afternoon collision (at top) between a passenger car and a school bus operated by CMD Transportation of Pottstown resulted in limited damage to the bus and significant damage to the car, Lower Pottsgrove police said.
No injuries were reported. The bus at the time was carrying Pottstown High School baseball players to a game scheduled for later in the afternoon.
The accident occurred in the 1900 block of East High Street in Sanatoga village. Officers at the scene said a male driver, whose car was heading east on the street, failed to see the bus slow in front of him. The bus had paused for a disabled vehicle ahead of it in the same lane, police said.
The involved car incurred heavy front-end damage (above), and its airbags deployed with the impact. It could not be driven from the street, and was towed. The school bus was driven away; its left-rear fender showed damage.
Attending at the scene in addition to police were Goodwill Ambulance, and Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire company and fire police units.

Traffic in both directions on East High Street was backed up during several short intervals while the accident was examined and vehicles removed. Fire police briefly redirected some traffic at both ends of the scene. Other vehicles within the area of the accident were allowed to pass in a single lane around it.
After the collision, a second CMD bus arrived. Student players transferred to it and were taken to the game, while police continued their investigation.
Because police were still collecting information and reports had not yet been filed, information on the car and bus drivers was not available. It also is unknown if any traffic citations were issued.
