Although attempts to keep kids from using tobacco continue throughout the year, kids will focus on helping their peers drop or avoid the habit on Wednesday, designated as national Kick Butts Day. Locally, events are planned at the Pottstown YMCA and Owen J. Roberts Middle School.

The presentation and discussion is free and open to the public, and will be led by specialists from Philadelphia.
Pottstown High School's group of marketing competitors demonstrated their business prowess during the recent contest and conference in Hershey.
In sixth and seventh grades, the new inductees maintained a grade point average of 91 or better, obtained character references, and participated in school projects throughout the year.
Prospective students will be welcomed. It's the college's chance to show itself off, as well as its 85 degree and certificate programs.

A middle school scholar-athlete was the first recipient Monday of an award presented by the owners of Perfect Connection Installations Inc., who say they are honoring their grandmother by helping young students on the road to adult success.
The womens' community service organization presented its latest scholarship to a Pottstown mother of five who is working and attending classes part-time.
