POTTSTOWN PA – Pottstown High School student Adam Alaoui joined other marketing students nationwide to participate April 22-25 (2023; Saturday through Tuesday) in the DECA International Career Development Conference at Orlando FL, teacher Ronald Davenport said.
DECA is a global non-profit organization dedicated to education of students interested in careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. More than 20,000 learners, teacher-advisors, business professionals, and alumni gathered at the Orange County Convention Center for what the organization calls its culminating event of the academic year.
Alaoui represented the high school and Pottstown community as a specialist in personal financial literacy. He was among competitors who successfully completed a 100-question content exam, and then participated in a situational role-play exercise. Students are judged during the exercise on the effectiveness of their responses to business situations and inquiries.
Both the test and role-play offer competitors real-life scenarios that provide valuable expertise and enhance their knowledge. Alaoui called the experience a “memorable” one.
His next challenge? Alaoui said he’s now focused on competing at the 2024 conference in Anaheim CA.
