HARLEYSVILLE PA – A shredding event intended to securely rid families and individuals of confidential documents they no longer need or want is scheduled for Saturday (May 6, 2023) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot behind Indian Valley Middle School, 130 Maple Ave. The event is sponsored by 147th District state Rep. Donna Scheuren on behalf of her constituents.
Scheuren and a group of volunteers will be on hand to unload and accept materials for shredding. Drop-offs are limited to 2 boxes or bag per vehicle. Residents of the district are those who live in Upper Pottsgrove, Douglass, New Hanover, Upper and Lower Frederick, Upper and Lower Salford, and Franconia townships.
Eligible for shredding are paper, checks, bills, and light-weight folders. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed from documents. Items that won’t be shredded include phone books, x-rays, bound books, newspapers, magazines, carbon paper, wet or moldy paper, laminated items, and non-paper or trash items.
It’s recommended those interested in participating arrive earlier rather than later. The event may end sooner than 1 p.m. if the truck fills to capacity.
