LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Trucks from Lower Pottsgrove waste and garbage hauler J.P. Mascaro and Sons of Audubon are scheduled to travel township streets Monday (June 5, 2023) to collect its residents’ yard waste.
If you’ve been busy in your yard or garden during the warm weather, you’ve probably already accumulated piles of tree, brush, and shrub waste to be removed. The June 5 date is the last pick-up until the fall, the township noted.
Township employees offer these reminders about yard waste collections:
- Yard waste consists primarily of leaves, but it can also include small branches (rule of thumb: no thicker than your thumb, no longer than the bag; see below), garden debris, and hedge trimmings.
- It cannot include grass clippings. They should be mulched in your yard. They will not be accepted by Mascaro.
- Acceptable yard waste must be packaged in compostable kraft paper bags. Bags are available for purchase at Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, Landis Market, Redners Supermarket on Charlotte Street, and other local retailers. Plastic bags will not be accepted by Mascaro.
- Bags should be assembled in one place near the property’s curb so they can be retrieved quickly and easily.
For yard waste that doesn’t qualify for curbside pickup, residents can bring materials to:
- Arborganic Acres Organic Composting Facility, 901 Cherry Hill Ln., Pottstown; call 484-524-8850 for more information; or
- Hetrick Gardens, 2620 Swamp Pike, Pottstown; call 610-327-9066.
Both charge fees for accepting yard waste.
