Portions of more than $123,000 specifically targeted to improve literacy among local youths is being distributed by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to organizations in Chester, Montgomery, and Berks counties.
It's been slightly more than a month since the Dollar General Literacy Foundation extended a $10,000 grant to the YWCA Tri-County Area. It's put that money to use for texts, materials, and computers in adult education classes.

The Dollar General store on West High Street was recently remodeled, the company said. It also operates stores in Lower Pottsgrove and Royersford.
A man armed with a handgun took undisclosed items Wednesday at 7:23 p.m. from the Dollar General on North Charlotte Street. He got away. Pottstown police joined the search.
