Several area fire companies responded Wednesday afternoon shortly after 4 p.m. to battle a house fire in Lower Frederick PA in a location that fronted Perkiomen Creek.

Schwenksville Fire Company volunteers voted Monday to merge operations with the Lower Frederick Fire Company. The intent: to better utilize manpower, reduce costs, and maintain fire protection for the borough and township.
Lower Frederick firefighters brought equipment Sunday and donated their time to support a fund-raiser in Zieglerville to benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
