Huge blocks of harvested hay were seen configured Wednesday into a lengthy wall outside the historic Laurel Locks Farm in North Coventry. Route 724 near the farm remains closed at its corner with Sheep Hill Road, due to bridge damage.

North Coventry state Rep. Tim Hennessey is in "continuous contact" with transportation officials, pressing to get Route 724 and its damaged Eckers Creek bridge re-opened. It could take months, though.

The South Keim Street bridge still needs millions of dollars in repairs if it is to be re-opened, 12 months after being declared unsound. The good news, a local engineer has reported, is that all affected municipalities agree the bridge is "important."
