Heavy equipment operators began Wednesday to remove a former gas station and convenience store at 1258 N. Charlotte St. In its place, Redner's Warehouse Market plans to erect a fuel-only station to accompany its nearby store.
Hourly employees at Redner's Markets are being offered an extra dollar hourly in pay for their "work through extremely difficult circumstances" as COVID-19's Omicron variant rages on.
The proposed Redner's fueling station at North Charlotte and Mervine streets in Lower Pottsgrove is moving quickly through township approvals. It earned Planning Commission recommendations Monday.
The latest step in a years-long process to improve the northeast corner of North Charlotte and Mervine streets was taken Tuesday. Lower Pottsgrove's Zoning Hearing Board granted variances and a special exception to Redner's Markets for a fueling station there.
Five variances and a special exception are being sought by Redner's Warehouse Markets to re-develop a convenience store and gas station property at 1258 N. Charlotte St. Lower Pottsgrove's Zoning Hearing Board considers those requests Tuesday (tonight).
The incident occurred Wednesday, Lower Pottsgrove police reported.
