Paperwork and reviews in the purchase of nearby pieces of land by PennDOT from Occidental Chemical Corp. have postponed bidding for proposed repairs to the Armand Hammer Boulevard interchange of U.S. Route 422 in Pottstown.
A motorcyclist said to be traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour crashed Sunday into a guard rail on U.S. Route 422 near Sanatoga. That was followed by a second crash of three vehicles trying to avoid the first incident.
The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission acknowledged Tuesday it could not, and would not try, to go further with its proposal to toll U.S. Route 422. There was just too much public and political opposition, its executive director said.
Outside pressure seems to be building for Gov. Tom Corbett to say whether he will act on a special commission's recommendations to increase transportation funding in Pennsylvania. One proposal so far deemed dead-on-arrival?: tolling U.S. Route 422.
Talk about ironic: a Pennsylvania contractor claimed Tuesday it had a deal to build a toll road and rail line at a cost of $7 billion. It was NOT referring to U.S. Route 422, however, where a similar-sounding proposal is still making headlines. Instead, this project would be in Alabama.

The state representative elected to serve Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove and Limerick will hold a mid-September forum in Royersford to gauge public reaction to a proposal that would impose tolls on part of U.S. Route 422.
