PennDOT's contractor returns from the Memorial Day weekend to work on U.S. Route 422 westbound in Limerick Township for a full week of paving. Drivers should expect overnight lane closures.
Limerick Manager Dan Kerr expects construction of a new ramp from Evergreen Road to U.S. Route 422 West can begin sometime "right after Memorial Day," he told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
The highway agency scrapped plans March 10-12 to close both a portion of both sides of U.S. Route 422 for bridge beam work in Lower Pottsgrove. Instead, it rescheduled it for March 17-18, again overnight.
Anticipate more construction activity daily next Monday through Friday on both east- and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 422 between its Royersford and Sanatoga interchanges.
Speeds on the area's most heavily used four-lane limited-access highways, including the length of U.S. Route 422 from King of Prussia to the Berks County line, have been limited during the snowstorm.
The project to create a new on-ramp for U.S. Route 422 West in Sanatoga has been under discussion since 2008. A $1.4 million bid for the work was awarded Tuesday by Limerick Township supervisors.
Both the west- and eastbound sides will be affected, as PennDOT's contractor continues pavement resurfacing and sign installation chores between the Royersford-Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges.
