AMITY TOWNSHIP PA – Travelers on portions of Glenwood Drive and Aspen Circle in Amity Township can expect to experience construction-related traffic delays or interruptions beginning Monday (April 10, 2023) and continuing through July.
Crews representing Pennsylvania American Water will work weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Glenwood between Magnolia Drive and Russell Avenue, and on Aspen Circle between Glenwood Drive and the cul-de-sac.
Its project involves replacing 1,900 feet of aging 6-inch cast iron pipe that was installed in the 1950s. It’s being swapped out for new 8-inch ductile iron pipe and copper service lines. The work represents a $900,000 investment to improve water main reliability, reduce service disruptions, and increase water flows for firefighting, the company said.
During construction, customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and lower than normal water pressure. The company pledged its crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the duration of these temporary inconveniences.
Pennsylvania American Water said it invested about $490 million during 2022 alone to improve its water and wastewater treatment and pipeline systems.
Although the project should be completed by July, final street restoration won’t occur until Fall 2023, it added. For more information, contact the Pennsylvania American Water customer service center toll-free at 1-800-565-7292.
